Danielle Smith is beginning to realize that she is reaping what she sowed. Danielle has been dancing around the entire separation issue for a couple of years now. She was pushing for this concept of a sovereign Alberta within Canada, whatever the heck that meant.

Then the separatist movement caught fire and most of the separatists of course has supported Smith and many are part of her UCP party

Smith has put 10 questions on the referendum ballot to be held a month from now. The final question is whether to have another referendum on determining whether Alberta should leave Canada. The last couple of weeks Smith has been waffling on the entire thing. Last night, she gave, some call an emotional speech, supporting unity within Canada

Now, the Highland riding Association, a UCP writing Association in southern Alberta, of which the town of Okotoks is within, is demanding a leadership review. This is the first riding Association to do so. A total of 22 UCP writing associations need to request the same for an actual review to take place

Tanya Clemens is a board member of the Highland UCP riding Association and is also a co-leader of the Let Alberta Decide separatist group. This is what she posted following Smith’s speech last night.

“I disagree with the adversarial role she has taken toward independence during this referendum, because I believe our highest elected representative should have remained neutral and allowed Albertans to make this decision.”

To put it politely, she is pissed that Danielle did this to the separatist movement. Danielle, to put it politely again, you are screwed. You’re going to lose support from many within your own party for taking a unity stance. There’s a good chance, because of your actions the last two years that two new parties will be formed. A separatist aligned party and a conservative party who thinks you are too far to the right with your Wildrose party beliefs. In other words, you will be splitting up the conservative vote big-time. You brought it on yourself.
