I know that Canada Day is on July 1. But yesterday as Thomas Lukaszuk put it, Calgary had a,
“It’s sort of a Canada Day on steroids, because that’s what we need at this point in time.”
Thousands of patriotic Alberta Canadians attended a Forever Canadian concert featuring Jan Arden and others at a Calgary park, yesterday. According to the head of the Forever Canadian movement, Lukaszuk,
“We need to unite, we need to pull together and we need to send a strong message not only to the legislature in Edmonton, and not only to the rest of Canada, but to the rest of the world that as Canadians we are united, and nobody can break us up, and nobody can take advantage of us.”
The Alberta Separatists had planned to make their voices heard during this get together. They had organized a procession to the park from an offsite gathering point. However, this fizzled. There were a few separatist flags, very few, mixed in with the gathering, and a few cars went by honking, but that was it. They were a non-entity just as they will be after the October 19 referendum.
