A couple of Major votes in the next few weeks. One in the US and one in Canada.
How bad is it for Donald Trump and the midterms? He is only campaigning in red states, playing defence. He went north to Alaska, yesterday, to campaign for Republican Senator Dan Sullivan. There is also a second Dan Sullivan on the ballot. Trump’s rallies have a bunch of empty seats in them. One republican congressional candidate in Maryland got laughed out of a Townhall session, yesterday, when he said that the high diesel prices were due to democrat regulations. He was not a happy camper.
Here, in Canada, a vote will be held on October 19 with nine questions and one option on the ballot. The option question relates to whether Alberta wants to separate from Canada or not. I say ‘relate’ because the option question is really about whether there should be a second vote. I’m not going to go into details. Only in Alberta.
There is much enthusiasm for this vote. Over 600,000 mail in ballots were requested and submitted. Yesterday was the first day of advanced poll voting. Some polling stations reported lineups with waiting times of two hours or longer
Social media is awash with comments on the vote, with a majority of the comments, favouring Alberta staying in Canada. This is not good news for the separatist at all. There was a major drop off in separatist comments, on Monday, following Ukraine’s bombing of Russian data centres on Sunday. The theory is that many of the separatist comments were actually bots. Surprisingly, there are a lot of jokes on the Internet right now about how many men lost online girlfriends Monday morning as well.
I, for one, am very much looking forward to the October 19 vote here in Alberta and the midterm vote in the US in November. I think a lot of conservatives are going to have a very depressing upcoming month.
That being said, if you have not voted already, get out and do so
