The chirps this week have been focused mainly on women. The first few chirps covered the incredible bravery of the women in Iran fighting for freedom.. Then it went downhill with the disaster that was Liz Truss. Now another low point, with our own Premier, here in Alberta.
Danielle Smith has been Premier, for only two weeks. She started things right by declaring that the unvaccinated were the most discriminated group she has seen in her lifetime. Thud. Then, remarks she made earlier this year came back to bite her. While Ukraine was being attacked, Smith stated that Ukraine should stay neutral. She also seemed to parrot Russian disinformation. Alberta is home to one quarter of Canada’s Ukrainian population. Thud. She has been pushing for the Sovereignty Act, which would allow Alberta to ignore certain federal laws. She has been backtracking on that little gem.
After all these blunders, she has walked into another one. Alberta Health Services (AHS) previously joined the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Coalition for Value in Healthcare.. This is a global partnership seeking the delivery of better health outcomes through innovative new approaches. Seems like a smart move by AHS. In front of her dedicated supporters, yesterday, she said the following.
“Why in the world do we have anything to do with the World Economic Forum? That’s got to end.”
She did not elaborate to reporters, afterwards, on this statement. However it is likely linked to conspiracy theories that the WEF is trying to take over the world’s government’s, dismantling capitalism, by using COVID as a pretext. Really?
This all has happened withing the first two weeks of her being leader of our province. She has, over and above what she has already blundered into, the unenviable task of trying to unite her disjointed party, by next Spring’s provincial election. To steal a term used by Nancy Pelosi, this will be like herding cats. Rachel Notley, the leader of the NDP is just licking her chops.
