This is Pastor William Kopp. He was the Pastor of the Stuart Draft Southern Baptist Church, for 14 years. On May 31, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic he gave an outdoor sermon to his flock. During that sermon he condemned Donald Trump for all his lies and other failings. He called him an anti Christ. He said that you can not support Jesus and the anti Christ at the same..
The next day, his flock rebelled against him. Many threatened to leave the church if he did not resign. By wednesday of that week, Kopp resigned. He is now a member of a Presbytirian church in North Carolina. Kopp stated that a crisis of faith led to the sermon. He notes that people are fine with sermons involving politics as long as it aligns with their personal opinions. Kopp sayts that he will have nothing more to do with Southern Baptists, in part because they have been on the wrong side of issues such as BLM, slavery, women in the ministry and sexual harrassment. Kopp says he is at peace.
In contrast to that, the Iranian regime declared that Sunday, the 30th of October, would be the absolute last day of protests in Iran. It is a week later and the protests have not diminished. Lawmakers, in Iran, are demanding that the judiciary “show no leniency” to the protesters. In Iran, that usually means the death penalty. A letter signed by 227 of Iran’s 290 Parliamentary Members included the following.
“We, the representatives of this nation, ask all state officials, including the Judiciary, to treat those, who waged war (against the Islamic establishment) and attacked people’s life and property like the Daesh (terrorists), in a way that would serve as a good lesson in the shortest possible time,”
Over 1,000 protersters have been charged. Open trials are being held. The verdicts are already known. Examples will be made of these protesters. Yet, despite all the that, the protests continue.
Iran is an example of fundamentalism run amuck. The William Kopp case is an example of the potential of it happening in America.
To all my American friends. Tomorrow, for the sake of all that is good, VOTE, VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!!!
