Trump’s Legacy

Trump will have a legacy. He will leave a mark in history Many think it will be a skid mark. Many will say he legitimized lying. Politicians have lied for years but Trump brought it up to atmospheric levels. People, most sane people anyway, no longer say ‘Johhny/Jenny, you can grow up to be President, someday”. Trump has tarnished the concept of being President. Many will say that Trump’s legacy will be the wave of lunatic Trumpkins that followed his coattails to Congress, such as Marjorie, Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and the man who calls himself George Santos, these days. Where Trump brought lying to atmospheric levels, Santos has brought it to Galactic levels. Many will say that Trump’s legacy was January 6. People would be right on all of the above. There are so many other monumental things that Trump will be remembered for. This chirp would have to be of ‘War and Peace’ proportions to cover all the negative things that Trump will be remembered for.

However, the legacy of legacies, [possibly even greater that January 6 is, well, let me give you three names. Neil Gorsuch. Brett ‘I like beer’ Kavanaugh. Amy Coney Barrett. These are the three Supreme Court Justices nominated and subsequently appointed under Trump’s watch. Three justices that are there for life. Last year, these three justices reversed the Roe vs. Wade decision. In the past week, these three justices had roles, in ending affirmative action, in denying certain services to same sex couples and in denying Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan. These three justices have Brought the Us from the 21st century to the 19th century. Discrimination is allowed. If you want to go to university and you do not come from a rich family, no matter how good a summer job you get, you face huge debt. Abortion? There are back alleys for that.

The Supreme court decisions of this week and last year may give the Democrats the momentum they need to win the Presidency, the House and the Senate in 2024. Republican candidates trying to out Trump, Trump in the 2024 primaries will likely get wiped off the map in blue and purple states. How bad is it? Lindsey Graham, in a Trump hate rally in South Carolina, got booed off the stage by Trump supporters yesterday.

Trump may destroy the Republican Party. But Trump’s Supreme Court will be around for years to come. Right now, Hillary Clinton has every right to say ‘I told you so’.
