This is Kate Cox. A Texas mother of two. Texas has one of the strictest abortion bans in the country. Cox had requested the Court to put in place a temporary restraining order in the abortion ban. The grounds, supported by a number of physicians was that her unborn baby had a fatal genetic condition which would result in the baby’s death shortly after birth. Furthermore, her past two pregnancies, both C-Sections, along with the complications of this pregnancy was putting Cox’s life at risk and risking future fertility.

This lower court approved the restraining order. Texas AG, Ken Paxton appealed the order to the Texas Supreme Court and the Supreme Court temporarily blocked the restraining order. Lawyers for Cic are appealing as follows,

“The State claims that it alone has the power to value Ms. Cox’s current nonviable pregnancy more highly than Ms. Cox’s own life and life of the future children she and her husband hope to have, regardless of Ms. Cox’s wishes for her family and the good faith advice of her medical team,”

The Republicans claim to be pro-life and small government. As far as women’s health is concerned they are the exact opposite. They oppose abortion yet they are against sec education which would prevent unwanted pregnancies. They try to limit access to firms if birth control, again which would prevent unwanted pregnancies. In this case the government says they know more than doctors about physicians treating Cox. Republicans sicken me.

There was a woman I knew about 30 years ago. She was the wife of one of my friends. She was quite conservative and came from a religious family. She worked as a nurse at a hospital. I asked her one night about her views on abortion. She shocked me. She supported it. She told me about about seeing babies born to addicted mothers. Babies that would be born addicted themselves, many who would be suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome, many whose lives would be a living hell

I have my own views on abortion. My views are nobody’s business but my own. I have two daughters. If they ever were in a situation involving an unwanted pregnancy I would respect whatever decision they make. It is their body not mine. Republicans sicken me with their hypocrisy and their BS.
