Guns Over Kids

Each morning, I start the day by doing a rhyming haiku which I post on various social media sites and I do this blog. This morning my haiku had a Sesame Street theme and had pictures of alphabet building blocks and smiling kids. Then I do this blog and it is about another mass school shooting.

This one was in Iowa. A number of injuries plus a sixth grader that was shot dead. The 17 year old shooter then took his own life. Last year, the UD had 80 mass shootings in schools. 80. The rest of the world probably did not have 80 mass school shootings.

Republicans were quick to praise the rapid response by law enforcement. The response was quick. But not quick for the two who died plus those wounded. Also not quick enough for the hundreds of teachers and students who will suffer psychological trauma from this.

Republicans also pointed out that guns are not the issue but, rather, the issue is mental health. In this case, it appears that mental health was an issue given reports that the shooter was bullied. That being said, every country has mental health issues.

It is the guns and the easy access to guns. Americans love their guns more than they do their kids. If you want proof, look what happened after Sandy Hook. Nothing of substance. Tell me otherwise.
