All empires eventually go downhill. The Roman empire is a prime example.

Three years ago today, the greatest threat to American democracy unfolded live on tv, with the Capitol being stormed by insurrectionists. This was not a spur of the moment one day event. Even before the election results were finalized, Trump had already started his false ‘election was stolen’ premise. After some hemming and hawing, Fox entertainment went full board behind this premise.

Today, three years later, with the support of Fox and Trump toadies in Congress, 25% of all Americans believe that the election was stolen. A stunning number. Trump is facing a number of court challenges this year with one goal in mind. Delay, delay, delay.

It has gotten so bad that President Biden, yesterday, in a campaign speech, almost called Trump a sick f#%k. Make no doubt about it, President Biden is right, American democracy is under threat. Trump may win this November. But even if he loses or is incarcerated, before then, America, as we know it, may be done for.

The Supreme Court will hear the Colorado 14th amendment case. Colorado has taken the position that Trump can not be in the ballot due to insurrectionist activities. Sooner or later the Supreme Court will also be called upon to determine whether Trump had immunity for the crimes he has been accused of while President.

No matter what the Supreme Court decides the country will be in a turmoil at a level probably not seen since before the Civil War. We all know how that turned out.

Honestly, I can not see how America will recover from this. Trumpers are already saying that if decisions go against Trump there will be civil war.The Supreme Court, with three Trump appointees, with recent scandals, i’d at its lowest standing ever regarding American’s confidence in it. If the decisions favour Trump the legitimacy of those decisions will immediately be put into question. I honestly think we are seeing the beginnings of the decline of the American empire. It is all due to one man. Putin’s useful idiot, Donald Trump.
