A few months back, the Senate put together legislation that would provide funding for Ukraine and Israel. Trump ordered his MAGAts in the house not to consider it. Mike Johnson heard Trump and honoured his demand.

Funny thing happened this week, following a meeting between and Biden. Johnson is saying ‘we have to do the right thing’. Johnson also said that Iran, China and Russia are the new axis of evil. The House, today, will vote on a bill to provide around $95 billion to Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan. This bill will pass given strong Democrat support and moderate Republican support.

The hard right MAGAts, in the House, are howling with rage at Mike Johnson’s betrayal. They are threatening to oust him from the Speakership. They most likely will try and most likely will fail because the Democrats will likely vote to keep Johnson as Speaker. Strange bedfellows.

Mike Johnson is defying the hard right members in the House, as well as, Trump, himself, but pushing this legislation through. Is this a sign that the MAGA stranglehold on the Republican party is slipping? Are the adults finally taking the room? One can only hope.
