When I get it wrong, I get it wrong bigly. A couple of weeks back when rumours were swirling around that Biden was going to resign, I believed that right wing media has so marginalized Kamala Harris that she did not have a chance at running for president. I did a chirp a couple days ago, saying that the Democrat convention, in August, should Biden resign, needed to be an open convention, given the number of qualified potential candidates, such as Pete Buttigieg.
Then, boom. Biden resigns, on Sunday, and it’s like a tsunami. Kamala Harris steps in with Biden’s endorsement and virtually everybody in the Democratic Party falls in line to support her, including potential rivals. The excitement level in the Democrat party is at a level comparable to that of 2008 when Obama was elected.
The Republicans are still reeling. The first couple days they attack Harris with racist and sexist innuendo. That might’ve worked along time ago it is backfiring this time. All of a sudden, Trump is the elderly candidate. His cognitive abilities will be front and center. just yesterday he was on Fox entertainment talking about how the wind kill birds. No seriously. The Republicans have been skirting the abortion issue. Kamala Harris will put that issue front and Center, Kamala Harris give her prosecutorial background will be attacking Trump constantly calling him on his lies and his record. Already, polls are showing Harris ahead of Trump, and this is still a month away from the Democrat convention, where she will get another bump.
So I was wrong bigly and I will gladly eat crow on this one.
