CNN has offered to hold another debate on October 23. Kamala Harris accepted immediately. But Donald Trump says he will not debate. The reason he gave is as follows.

“She’s done one debate, I’ve done two, it’s too late to do another. I’d love to, in many ways, but it’s too late, the voting is cast, the voters are out there.”

we all know of course this is total BS. We all saw the last debate. We saw Donald ranting about dogs and cats. We all saw Donald lose it.

Right now, the polls are neck and neck, nationally, and in the key swing states. There has been a slow creeping change in the polls from Trump having a marginal lead to now Harris having that marginal lead. The debate itself is one reason for this marginal shift. Trump knows he was terrible in that debate.

If this gradual shift in polls continues, and there are indications that it will given the financial resources Harris has over Trump, then Trump might have no choice, but to eventually accept the invitation for a follow up debate. It all depends on the pools and how they trend over the next month. The Mark Robinson debacle in North Carolina is not helping Trump at all. North Carolina now has come to play.

There will be one more debate at the vice president level on October 1. If JD Vance flames out that could also force Trump’s hand.
