there were a couple stories yesterday that in the time before Trump would’ve destroyed the hopes of a presidential candidate. But unfortunately, we are living in the time of Trump.

There was a story in the Atlantic about a female soldier of Mexican descent who was murdered by fellow soldier. She was only 20 years old. Trump used the opportunity to put the family on TV at the White House and say that he would cover all funeral costs. this happened in July 2020. At a White House meeting in December 2020, he asked how much the funeral cost and was told that it cost $60,000. This was his response.

 “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican! Don’t pay it!” 

Compassionate guy don’t you think? Just another story in Trump world nothing more. Nothing to see here.

John Kelly, former chief of staff with Donald Trump for two years and a military man all his life, and a Goldstar parent having lost a son, in Afghanistan, was interviewed by the New York Times. Kelly stated that Trump was a fascist and that he wanted his generals to be like Hitler’s generals.

‘“Do you mean the kaiser’s generals? Surely you can’t mean Hitler’s generals?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, yeah, Hitler’s generals.’ I explained to him that Rommel had to commit suicide after taking part in a plot against Hitler.”

Kelly is just one of many staffers who served under Trump, including a number of military staffers who fear him getting a second presidency, a presidency without guard rails.

Kelly was asked how he defined fascist. He responded as follows.,

“Well, looking at the definition of fascism: It’s a far-right authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy. So certainly, in my experience, those are the kinds of things that he thinks would work better in terms of running America.”

In any other time, this would bury the hopes of a presidential candidate. As I said before Kelly is just one of many former Trump staffers who’ve made stinging comments about Trump. These are the people who know him best. These are the people who worked for him in his first term. How this is still a close race is just beyond me.
