Welcome to the last weekend of relative normalcy. Every day in the first Trump presidency, I would wake up read the news on the Internet and guaranteed I would have a OMG moment. Often times it was accompanied by an exclamation of WTF. Well, it’s gonna start again on Monday and with all the guard rails gone this time around it’s gonna be worse.
This time, potentially, Canada will be far more affected than the last time. Come Monday we might be facing a 25% tariff. Come Monday we are facing the threat of being a 51st date. This weekend is just a typical Canadian weekend. Cold and snow in many places. Hockey day, Canada, where all seven Canadian teams will be playing starting in the afternoon and going until late night. This could be our last weekend of normalcy.
Nobody knows what the next four years will bring. But I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be scary. It turned the impossible into possible and I don’t mean in a good way. I can envision a worst case scenario where Canada, despite Danielle Smith, cuts off oil exports to the states. what would Trump do? Could he order troops into Canada? It sounds far-fetched, sure. But is it as far-fetched as a president telling his citizens to inject bleach? Is it as far-fetched as an erection held on January 6
The most ironic thing about Monday is that the inauguration will be held at the very same place or an insurrection was held. Buckle up everybody cause it’s gonna be a wild ride. I don’t mean that in a good way either.
All I have for today.
