Well, Donald Trump is now proposing that Gaza be stripped of its population, with the inhabitants being sent to Jordan and Egypt. Trump has not clarified whether this would be temporary or permanent.

Just as a point of fact, Jordan already has 2.9 million registered Palestinians in its country. Egypt, as well, is home to a number of refugees, from various African nations.

Trump, in describing Gaza as a mess, stated,

“I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing in a different location where I think they could maybe live in peace for a change.”

The idea is going over like a lead balloon. The Egyptian for ministry stated,

“Such actions threaten stability, risk extending the conflict further in the region, and undermine opportunities for peace and coexistence.”

A Jordanian spokesman added,

“Our refusal of displacement is a steadfast position that will not change.”

Donald Trump’s proposal is outlandish. It is absolutely crazy. Moving one and a half million Palestinians to countries who do not want them. Then again, there has been no peace in the region for over 80 years. With Trump now in power, we all are facing a new reality. I am not going to say it ain’t gonna happen because it could. Just another WTF day.
