Seen This Before

It is obvious that Donald Trump skipped his history classes. Or else, he simply was not paying attention.

Back in 1938, to appease German aggression, England, Italy, France, and Germany signed an agreement, in Munich, ceding a parcel of Czechoslovakian territory to Germany. The territory was called Sudetenland. Germany wanted it because Hitler claimed that the territory was populated by ethnic Germans. Czechoslovakia was not at the table at all. We all know how that went. 80 million lives were lost during World War II including 6 million Jews in the holocaust.

Russia and the US met in Saudi Arabia yesterday to start talks, for the purpose of ending the war in Ukraine. Just like Hitler in 1938 Putin claims that much of Eastern Ukraine is populated by ethnic Russians. Just like 1938 where Czechoslovakia was not at the table, Ukraine is not at the table this time around. Nor are the countries is closest to Ukraine, that being in Europe.

The similarities are stunning. Another similarity is that in 1938 and 39, Time magazine’s persons of the year were Hitler and Stalin. Last year it was Trump.

Just like it was a sellout in 1938, it will be again so this year. Makes me sick to my stomach.

All I can handle for today.
