The Oxford, dictionary defiance war as follows,
“a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state.”
Economic war has been defined as follows,
“an economic strategy used by belligerent states with the goal of weakening the economy of other states.”
Note the term belligerent. Donald Trump fired the first shot last night. While not an armed conflict, as of yet, Donald Trump’s intention is to not only weaken the Canadian economy, but to beat it into submission so that it becomes his desired 51st date
This is a war on our culture on our very soul. He wants to destroy Canada, plain and simple.
Canada is striking back. Justin Trudeau stated the following.,
“Canada will not let this unjustified decision go unanswered,m. Should American tariffs come into effect tonight, Canada will, effective 12:01 a.m. EST tomorrow, respond with 25 per cent tariffs against $155 billion of American goods.”
Trudeau kept his promise. Newly reelected, Ontario, premier, Doug Ford threatened his province‘a own retaliation,
“If they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do anything, including cutting off their energy — with a smile on my face.”
in this extraordinary time of Trump, where he is already turning on allies and where he is siding with Russia, anything is possible. If Ford goes through on his promise to cut off energy, the possibility of American forces coming into Canada to turn the energy tap back on, becomes a possible reality.
We are going through experiences that even one year ago would’ve been called insane to even consider. Protectionism did not cause the 1929 depression but it sure as heck exacerbated it in the 1930s.
Nobody is going to win this. Except for one country perhaps. Right now, Vladimir Putin is rubbing his hands with glee. He is seeing the west tearing itself apart from within.
Unbelievable.
