this is the Canadian beaver. The Canadian beaver has become a symbol of Canada. Beavers look cute,, but you don’t want to piss a beaver off. A beaver’s home is called a lodge. Beavers are very protective of their homes.

Donald Trump attacked our home, yesterday, with his tariffs. He tried to intimidate. Prime Minister Trudeau went in front of the cameras yesterday and pushed back. Trudeau said that Canadians are polite, but we won’t get pushed around. Trudeau, quoting the Wall Street Journal, stated that the tariffs are a dumb idea. Canada retaliated by implementing 25% tariffs on a number of goods coming from the states.

Trump tried to further intimidate Canada by saying the states will further retaliate on retaliation the Canada implemented. Well that’s not going over too well.

Trudeau’s news conference was carried on the US news cable channels. Trudeau shut down Trump’s claim that the tariffs implemented we were related to the fentanyl coming in from Canada. There is hardly any fentanyl coming in from Canada. Trudeau stated that Americans will get hurt big time by this tariff war and stated that Trump did this to his fellow Americans

The stock market fell big time. Duh.

premieres of various Canadian provinces started implementing their own retaliatory steps. Doug Ford has threatened a 25% export tax on energy going to the states. Provinces are taking American liquor off the shelves. Premier are saying that America can no longer be trusted as business partners. Canada is already looking for new trade partners in order to be less dependent on American commerce. Canada has already made representations to the World Trade Organization about the legality of Trump’s tariffs.

The US is already backing down. Commerce secretary, Lutnick, is making the rounds on Canadian media this morning suggest suggesting that some industries might be carved out of the tariffs, such as the auto industry. So much for Trump‘s promise to bring more auto industry jobs to the US. Lutnick is also suggesting that a middle ground is being sought on the tariffs, resulting in lower tariffs. There is no middle ground. The tariffs have to be removed. End of story.

Trump will eventually backtrack. He will somehow rather claim a victory. Because that is his style. We will not let them claim that false victory. He threatened our home and we will rub it in his face.
