Pierre Poilievre (PP) probably woke up this morning, turned on the news, and said screw it, I’m going back to sleep. The latest poll tracker, which is a combination of 10 polls, now show the liberals increasing their lead to 6%. this is a daily tracker, and it shows that the liberal lead increased by .3% in the last day.
This next image shows what this lead translates to in seats.

What is stunning is that the liberals would have a majority and the NDP would only have three seats.
This isn’t the only bad news for PP on the date of this chirp, being April 2. A third conservative candidate has had to withdraw from the race. Two conservative candidates were dropped yesterday. One candidate was dropped for supporting public executions, including executing Justin Trudeau. The second candidate had to be dropped because in part he supported Russia over Ukraine. That might go over well in Trump country, but it doesn’t go well in Canada. No reason has been given for the third candidate yet.
Adding to PP’s woes is that today is Trump’s liberation day. All the focus will be on tariffs today. This is a winning issue for the liberals. In fact, Mark Carney is taking a day off from his campaign today to assume his role as Prime Minister. While Carney will be focussing on Trump‘s tariff threats, PP will be lamenting his strategy of focussing on other issues and will be trying to catch up on the tariff issue.
What is even worse, is the fact that Trump’s tariff announcement won’t be until 4 o’clock, back East. That means the media will be focussing on speculation today and the actual effects tomorrow. A two day gift for Carney.
One person you really have to feel for is Jagmeet Singh. The liberal resurgence has basically come at the expense of the NDP. He cannot catch a break here. He will probably be gone after this election and the NDP will be searching for a new leader. Then again the conservatives might be doing the same thing.
All I have for today.
