The G7 summit will be held in Alberta this summer. Donald Trump is threatening not to come.

The image above is a well known picture taken the last time the G7 was in Canada. Trump being faced down by all the G7 leaders. That Summit ended in disarray when Trump refused to be a signatory to the joint communique. It is also the start of the intense dislike that Trump had for Justin Trudeau.

Whatever.

This is a lose-lose, for Trump, whether he goes to the Summit or not. He becomes more of a pariah by not attending. But, at the same time he will be in a hostile environment, of his own, making, if he does go. His tariff war, against the world, and his support of Russia has not put him in good favor. Furthermore, Canada as host has invited Ukrainian leader Zelensky, to the Summit. Not a good image for Trump.

The meeting today between Trump and Mark Carney may be a determining factor in whether Trump comes or not.
