The West, since 2022, strongly supported Ukraine in its fight for democracy and in its fight against Russia’s invasion of its land. Donald Trump in his bid to be reelected claim that he could end this war in one day.

There have been some meetings in the past couple months between US and Russia with little result. Ukraine and Russia met last week. Putin was invited but declined. Trump decided not to go. Zelensky seeing this also did not go. Russia claimed to be wanting a 30 day cease fire but only if Ukraine withdrew from land in the eastern Ukraine that had taken back from the Russians. Not a prayer.

In advance of Trump and Putin‘s phone call yesterday, JD Vance, on Sunday, said that this was Biden‘s war. That kind of gave an idea as to how the phone conversation would go between Trump and Putin.

The phone conversation lasted two hours. One can wonder what they talked about for two hours. Probably how to make more money. There were drone attacks by Russia, even during the conversation. The call ended with Trump saying that Russia and Ukraine would be working on a memorandum on how to address a ceasefire. Trump also said that was up to Ukraine in Russia to settle this. Essentially Trump was backing away. Putin has won.

American military support of Ukraine is ending. The rest of the Western allies will try to do their bit, but it won’t be enough. Russian population is much bigger than Ukraine’s. Trump essentially is leaving Ukraine to wither on the vine. This sickens me. Trump sickens me.
