Good Thing

Honestly, what were your feelings when you heard that Trump announced a ceasefire last night between Israel and Iran? Was this good news tempered by the fact that it was Trump announcing it and that it was Trump who would get credit?

I will be the first to admit that I do not like Trump and I do not like the thousands of the things he’s done. We all know that Donald Trump wants the Nobel peace prize, and he will do anything to get it. His attempt to do so with Ukraine and Russia is failing miserably. So now he has turned his eyes on Israel and Iran.

This morning news headlines are blaring with the fact that both Iran and Israel has broken the ceasefire. Talking Heads were questioning whether the ceasefire was dead already.

The fact is many cease-fires in the past have been broken in the early hours, but then have held steady. No matter what you think of Trump. No matter the very real fact that Israel has done much of the hard work to weaken Iran to where they are now. No matter the fact that Trump bombed Iran, much to the consternation of much of the world. If this cease-fire takes hold, it will be a great thing and something to build on.

Trump for all his bluster, for all his lies, and for all the crap he has done is a change agent. He has done things in the Middle East that no one else would dare. If this ends up a success, Trump deserves some credit for making it so.

That’s all I have today and I hope that you still like me.
