Now that I have your attention, let me add this boring chart.

What this chart shows is that Canada is going through the second worst fire season since 2000. This is not even mid August yet. The last three years, including this year, having been the worst three fire seasons since 2000. So far, this year, the number of acres burnt would match the size of New Brunswick.
Fires are affecting every province and every territory. Even Newfoundland is facing evacuations. The suburbs of St. John’s is on alert. When I think of St. John’s, I think of the beautiful scenery and I think of rain. It has not rained in St. John’s in two weeks. It has been hot in St. John’s. Central Newfoundland has seen temperatures approaching 35°C or 95 Fahrenheit. This is Newfoundland for goodness sake.
Climate change deniers might not like it, but climate change is here and looks like it’s going to stay around for a while. There have been more thousand year floods in the states this year than I can recall. So we have a mix of fire and rain. We have it all.
Meanwhile, in some of the Midwestern states, residents are complaining of all the smoke that is coming from Canada. Really they’re complaining about that. Like we are just sitting around picking our noses and doing nothing.
That is all I have for today.
