Trump Playbook

Pierre Poilievre (PP) has been playing off the Donald Trump playbook, failing to realize that Canada is not like the United States. For example, prior to the election he kept repeating the saying ‘ Canada is broken’ imitating Trump’s America is broken mantra. That didn’t turn out too well for PP as he lost the election. Prior to Donald Trump’s reelection Trump kept attacking the Department of justice and the FBI and saying that a number of figures, including Joe Biden should be arrested.

Well, PP again, went to the Trump playbook, last week, by attacking the RCMP and suggesting that Justin Trudeau should be jailed.

“The leadership of the RCMP is frankly just despicable when it comes to enforcing laws against the Liberal government.”

“If the RCMP had been doing its job and not covering up for him, then he would have been criminally charged.”

Pierre, once again, you forgot the Canada is not like the United States. You don’t go after Dudley Doright. You just don’t. PP has had to do a major backtrack since then.

“I stand shoulder to shoulder with the brave men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve. Today and every day, I thank them for their service.”

Elizabeth May, leader of the green party, summed up Pierre‘s mess up, as follows.

“It’s deeply worrying because this is the type of thing going on right now in Trump’s United States. Political enemies can become then persecuted through law enforcement.”

For Mark Carney and the liberals, Pierre is the gift that keeps on giving. Pierre’s popularity rating is now down into the 20% range. Even some conservatives are getting worried about how Pierre is presenting himself to the Canadian public. One conservative is saying that Pierre is acting like he still hasn’t gotten over losing the election. The conservatives will have a leadership review in the new year and Pierre might get some disturbing results.

That’s all I have for today.
