Trump Rage

While watching the Olympics, I found out that the Supreme Court had ruled against Trump‘s tariffs and that Trump was going to hold a press briefing. I turned to it and what I saw was barely suppressed rage coming from a spoiled baby. The anger was obvious. Three Conservative justices, including two that he appointed went against him on the Supreme Court decision. This is how he felt about that.

“I’m ashamed of certain members of the court. Absolutely ashamed for not having the courage to do what’s right for our country.”

“They’re just being fools and lapdogs for the Rhinos and the radical left Democrats.”

My suggestion to Amy Comey Barrett and Neil Gorsuch, the two Trump appointees, as well as John Roberts, is to beef up your security detail. Because Trump’s rage will definitely translate to death threats. Just like Trump seems to be going off the deep end, many of his supporters are probably doing the same thing.

This was a 45 minute presidential rant and rave that has never been seen before. It creates a mess for Trump. Lawyers across the land are overjoyed with the decision. The Supreme Court was fairly quiet on whether refunds should be given to importers who got hit with the tariffs. Trump himself said that this will involve legal processes that will take years. He is right on that. Importers will sue. There are processes, in place, to provide refunds. In another life, I worked in a federal department that was responsible for providing refunds to importers who appealed in tariffs applied to them. The issue is to develop a process to provide refunds on such a massive scale.

Countries who have already reached deals with Trump prior to the decision may look at their deals now and be tempted to break them.

This is a disastrous loss for Trump, no matter how he wants to paint it. The frightening thing is this will make him more dangerous as his rationality is overtaken by pure rage.

That’s all I have for today.
