Right Decision?

Anyone who has been reading my chirps, knows that I am no fan of Donald Trump. But, for now, I’m not going to condemn what he did, Friday night into Saturday morning.

Ayatollah Ali Khahmenei had been the supreme leader of an extremely brutal Iranian regime for nearly 40 years. He has been the leading force behind a brutal repression of protests, which has led to the death of tens of thousands of Iranians. There’s no such thing as women’s rights in Iran.

The entire world, except for countries, such as Russia and North Korea, was in agreement that this regime have to be ended. So Trump, along with Netanyahu’s Israel, took a major step in diminishing that regime on Friday night into Saturday morning. Not only was the supreme leader killed, but a number of top Iranian leaders, including political, military, and religious were killed in coordinated attacks.

Nobody knows what will happen next. Trump is calling for the Iranian people to rise up and replace the resume. This has a better chance of happening now than it did 48 hours ago.

The US, under George Bush, took the regime change approach, in Iraq, in 2003. It was costly, in terms of American lives, lost, and Iraqi lives, lost. It led to the creation of ISIS. Iran is three times the size of Iraq. Iran has just as many different factions that Iraq has. There is a potential for total chaos to break out in Iran. There is a potential for internal bloodshed, similar to what was seen in Iraq. There is also a potential that new leadership could win out in Iran that is more democratic in nature. Nobody knows.

Donald Trump being Donald Trump, most likely had ulterior motives. He wanted to move the Epstein files out of the headlines. He most likely has no long range plans as to what to do next, in Iran.

That being said, I still will not condemn what he did, for now. This would’ve had to happen eventually. As long as Iran was continuing to pursue nuclear capability, this would’ve had to happen, so it is happening now.

One thing that Trump cannot do is have American boots on the ground. If that happens, all bets are off.

That’s all I have for today.
