Five weeks ago today, the US and Israel launched a coordinated attack on Iran. The strike resulted in the death of the supreme leader, and 48 other top Iranian officials. It was an attempt to decapitate Iranian leadership and it seems like a good idea at the time.

I myself admit to the fact that I pulled a 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry flop flip. I supported the attack and now I’m against it.

I assumed that Trump and Hegseth had a long-term follow up plan as to what to do next to bring this to a quick conclusion. You know what assuming does.

Here we are five weeks later. The Strait of Hormuz is closed to all traffic, except Russian and Chinese ships and to those ships willing to pay a $2 million Iranian toll. So Iran is now making money on this. Gas prices are shooting sky high for countries all over the world. Regime change has occurred, with the current regime being more hardline than the regime that was replaced. Iran still has all the enriched uranium needed to produce a nuclear weapon. And now a US aircraft has been shot down and one of the two pilots missing.

On a personal level, this is a disaster Donald Trump. Iran is starting to look more and more like Iraq, especially if the US puts boots on the ground. The trouble is Iran is a much larger country. The enriched uranium is in the middle of the country and it would be almost impossible to extract without major casualties. If Trump was to quit the war right now. It would be with his tail between his legs and he won’t do that. His narcissism will not allow him to do that.

But it did seem like a good idea at the time didn’t it Donald?
