TACO Trump Strikes Again

TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out) has struck again. He has delayed his 50% tariff threat on Canada until Saturday now. Big surprise, not.

Trump even says that a deal is in place. Sure, like a deal with Iran is in place. Ottawa, on the other hand, says there’s still a lot of work to do, before a deal is set.

One sticking point would be Canada importing alcohol from the US, again. The Americans fail to understand that alcohol distribution is a provincial responsibility. All-the Canadian provinces except for my home, province, of Alberta, of course, and Saskatchewan have banned US alcohol sales on shelves. Do you think British Columbia will allow US imports if nothing is done on software lumber. Do you think Ontario will allow US imports of liquor if the province is hard hit by tariffs on automobiles. So there needs to be a tit for tat and I can’t see that happening right now.

But probably the main reason that Trump has delayed the imposition of tariffs is because Canada has turned NASTY. Our negotiation team has turned. NASTY. Mark Carney has turned NASTY.

One last thing, Mark Carney is a successful businessman. Donald Trump is a failed casino owner.

That’s all I have.
