Lindsay Grahan has represented South Carolina for 30 years, first as a Congressman then as a Senator. Yet, on rare occasions, he has said negative things about Donald Trump. A couple of Saturday’s back, in his hometown, he was booed mercilessly, off the stage.
Last Saturday night, at a Trump rally, in South Carolina, Graham, speaking ahead of Trump, said the following.
“People ask, ‘What happened with you and Trump?’ I said, ‘Well, he beat me like a drum,’ and I acknowledged that he did. He sort of liked hearing that, but we found something in common: I’ve come to like him, and he likes him and that gets us through 18 holes of golf. “One thing I can tell you, you better not screw with this guy or you’ll regret it.”
Graham went full grovel.
Mitch McConnell, has represented Kentucky, as Senator, for 40 years! Yet, last Saturday, in his homestate, he was booed throughout his speech. He is known closet hater of Trump.
Liz Cheney was high up in the Republican hierarchy until her and Trump parted way, with Cheney playing a dominant role in the January 6 Committee. She was slaughtered in the next Wyoming Republican Primary Her dad was the former Vice-President of the United States.
It is a known fact that a majority of Republican Senators despise Trump. The only one who is outspoken about it is Mitch Romney. The rest are cowards, too afraid they will be booted out in their next Republican primaries.
The current Republican Presidential candidates, other than Will Hurd and Chris Christie have kowtowed to Trump. Christie and Hurd are mired in the polls. Mike Pence is starting to more loudly voice that Trump tried to force him to go against the constitution on January 6. He is at around 5% in the polls. Ron DeSantis finally admitted, yesterday, that Trump lost the 2020 election. But, he said it in such a way that he did not acknowledge that Trump lost legally.
Will more cracks show in Trump’s armour of invincibility? There are tiny cracks. Any other candidate facing one indictment, let alone three, soon to be four, would have their political career ended. Trump is not like any other candidate. Like Humpty Dumpty is there a great fall to come? The election is still 15 months away. Time will tell.
