Justin Trudeau met with Donald Trump, last Friday, at Mar-a-Lago. The discussion revolved around Trump’s threat to impose a 25% tariff on all goods coming in from Canada. Trump stated that the tariffs would remain in place until Canada resolved the issues of illegal immigration and illegal drugs into the states. Compared to other countries, very little of both is coming in from Canada. but facts matter little to Trump.

During the meeting, Trump suggested that if Canada cannot resolve these issues then perhaps Canada should become the US’ 51st state. After the meeting Trump and his officials claimed that this remark was just a joke. Or was it?

We all know Trump carries grudges. There was a photo taken a few years ago of Trump standing to the side, with wife Melania invading Trudeau’s personal space and gazing up adoringly at Trudeau. It looked like Melania wanted to have Justin for dessert. So he might want to make Canada the 51st state just out of spite. Would not put it past him.

Also, we all know that Trump lies all the time. So if Trump says that he was just joking about making Canada the 51st date was he really telling the truth? If Trump lies all the time and he admits to such, does that mean he was telling the truth. If he was telling the truth, but he lies all the time, but… Brings back memories of an old Star Trek episode, but that is another story.
