TrumPutin

John Bolton was Donald Trump’s national security advisor in Trump’s first term. Trump fired him in 2019. Bolton did not go quietly into the good night. He wrote a book about his time at the White House. The book was highly critical of Trump. Bolton has been a harsh critic of Trump ever since.

Yesterday, Bolton’s home and office were raided and searched by the FBI.

Supposedly, one of the reasons for the raid was searching for classified documents. This is ironic, given that Trump had tons of classified documents scattered at his home in Mar-a-Lago. This is also ironic given that Trump was caught talking about classified information at a meal with his friends.

I think we can all remember during Biden‘s administration how the Republicans were complaining that Biden was weaponizing the justice department against Trump and his allies. This is nothing compared to what Trump has been doing in his first seven months of his second term. Anyone and I mean, anyone who criticizes Trump, now or in the past, faces consequences. Trump, with no guard rails, is doing everything possible to prosecute those who he feels did him wrong.

What happened yesterday should terrify people. This is as blatant as it has gotten so far. Trump is using the Putin playbook of fear and intimidation. If I were Gavin Newsom or if I were the creators of South Park, I would stay away from open windows. Newsom has gotten under the skin of Trump and his acolytes, including Fox entertainment. South Park’s three episodes, this season, has savaged Trump. I admire them for what they’ve done, but I fear for them too.

That’s all I have for today.
